Wenger targets shock £10 million swoop for England international

With Wolfsburg readying a £10 million offer for Denilson, Arsenal are likely to use that to swoop for Manchester City centre back Joleon Lecott.
Former England boss Steve McClaren is interested in a move for Denilson and is willing to use the money he receives for Edin Dzeko to fund that move.
The Brazilian midfielder has not progressed as much as Arsene Wenger would have liked since fast-tracking him into Arsenal’s first team and is now on the verge of leaving the Emirates Stadium.
With Alex Song, skipper Cesc Fabregas and Jack Wilshere impressing thus far in their starting berths, Denilson will struggle to re-gain his place in the Gunners’ starting line up.
And Wenger is keen to bring in defensive re-inforcements during the January transfer window, despite denying he will spend big next month.
New signings Laurent Koscielny and Sebastian Squillaci have yet to impress the Arsenal faithful while Thomas Vermaelen is perennially injured and Johann Djourou is the only other option they really have.
Therefore, with Lescott unhappy at Eastlands and Manchester City willing to take big losses on their fringe players, Wenger is ready to use any money made from the sale of Denilson to bring the former Wolves man to the Emirates
