Branislav Ivanovic inspired stuttering Chelsea to just their second victory in ten Premier League games.
Ivanovic turned in the opener after the break when he controlled a John Terry flick-on from Florent Malouda's corner and shot home from close range.
And his towering leap from another Malouda corner saw Nicolas Anelka cleverly flick in the second.
Ramires and Anelka also both hit the bar for the Blues while David Hoilett forced a fine save from Petr Cech.
