The Mirror says Sky Sports was hit with a backlash yesterday after Neville was unveiled as the its new football pundit – with viewers threatening to cancel their subscriptions in protest.
Manchester United legend Neville, who revelled in his reputation as one of the most hated men in football, will become one of Sky Sports’ frontline commentators on Premier League and European games.
Jamie Redknapp, 37, will join Neville, 36, in replacing Andy Gray and Richard Keys.
But fans are furious at the appointment of “Mr Man United”. Many dubbed him “boring” and feared he would not be able to put aside his love for United.
