Tottenham Linked With shock move for Berbatov

Manchester United forward Dimitar Berbatov is being linked with a shock return to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Bulgarian, who left White Hart Lane in 2008 for Manchester United in a £30m deal, is admired by Harry Redknapp and is a potential option for the Spurs boss as he looks to bolster his attacking options.

Tottenham have been disappointed with the contributions of Jermain Defoe and Roman Pavlyuchenko this season while Robbie Keane, on loan to West Ham, is likely to be sold and Peter Crouch has only scored four league goals.

Berbatov is the Premier League’s leading goalscorer this campaign but it is believed that Sir Alex Ferguson sees Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez as his long-term priority as a potential strikeforce.

This could lead to Manchester United cashing-in on their record signing and a sale that could lose the club around £20m with Berbatov only expected to fetch a third of his transfer fee
