Trouble At West Ham end of season party

West Ham's relegation nightmare continued at an end-of-season gala dinner on Monday night, as police were called after fans brawled with security guards.
Trouble flared last night after striker Demba Ba allegedly refused to sign autographs for some supporters - who had paid £275 a head to attend the bash at London's Grosvenor House Hotel - and is said to have claimed he was 'too tired'.The angry fans began abusing the Senegal international, whose two goals had given Hammers brief hope 24 hours earlier before the defeat by Wigan that consigned the club to the Championship.
And as security staff tried to defuse the situation punches and plates were thrown and tables turned over, while it was claimed that one fan high-kicked a glass vase from a table.
Celebrity supporter Ben Shephard, the host for the evening, made desperate appeals for calm.
A group of men were later seen running from the main entrance of the hotel, chased by security staff, before two police cars turned up
West Ham’s players had been instructed to attend the event and warned by letter they would face a fine of a week’s wages if they failed to comply.
