Park Chu- Young Joins Arsenal
Park Chu-Young has undergone a medical and is set to complete a £2.6million transfer to Arsenal - after going AWOL by fleeing his hotel for London shortly before finalising a deal with Lille. The Monaco striker had agreed terms to join the French champions and the deal had progressed as far as him travelling to Lille on Friday, with a view to completing the move on Saturday.
However, when club officials went to collect the South Korea international from the hotel for his medical, they found the room empty.
Lille president Michel Seydoux was furious about the 26-year-old going missing and the discovery that Park had travelled to England, 'apparently to Arsenal', did little to quell his anger.
'We are stunned by this unacceptable behaviour in terms of human qualities,' Seydoux told L'Equipe.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger revealed on Friday that he planned to sign a new striker, as Nicklas Bendtner is close to finalising a move away from the Emirates Stadium.Park - who was reported to have held talks with Spurs following Monaco's relegation from the French top-flight last season - looks set to arrive at Arsenal as a low-cost replacement for the Dane.
He will also act as cover for Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh during next year's African Cup of Nations.
