Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed the club are in talks with Manchester City to sign Emmanuel Adebayor.
City boss Roberto Mancini revealed earlier this month that the Togo striker had no future at the club, with the arrival of Sergio Aguero further boosting his striking options.
Adebayor spent the second half of last season on loan at Real Madrid and the Spanish giants have been linked with a permanent move for the former Arsenal man.
The Gunners' north London rivals Tottenham have also been linked with a move for the 27-year-old, with Redknapp declaring his interest in the player earlier in the summer.
The main stumbling block to any deal appears to be Adebayor's £170,000 a week wages.
However, the saga has now taken a new twist with Redknapp revealing the club are in discussions with City over a season-long loan move for the hitman.
"The chairman is talking to Man City about the player but where they (the negotiations) are at, I genuinely don't know."said Redknapp, ahead of his side's Europa League play-off tie with Hearts.
