Arsenal After Hulk

Arsenal have been in touch with Porto about signing Hulk, the striker's agent has claimed. But Teodoro Fonseca has warned anyone hoping to sign the powerful striker on the cheap that he will not leave Porto unless his monster £87m release clause is met. It was reported that Arsenal were in the hunt for Hulk and were preparing a £23m January offer for the Brazil international. And his agent Fonseca has revealed that the Gunners have shown interest in Hulk in the past but admitted the most recent link was news to him. He also rubbished the rumours that Porto could be willing to sell their prized asset for as little as £23m. Arsenal's current transfer record is the £16m they paid for Andrey Arshavin in 2009 so it is highly unlikely that they would be willing to break the bank to meet his staggering buy-out fee. Fonseca told Portuguese newspaper A Bola: "Every year there are more clubs interest in Hulk and I am also aware that there are clubs from outside the Premier clubs interested. "This Arsenal rumour is news to me but it is true that there has been contact before but nothing happened. "But I speak often with Porto and the figures have not changed. He will only be sold if someone pays the £100m so this figure of £23m that has appeared would not be considered."
