Wayne Rooney scored two penalties as Manchester United defeated Otelul Galati although Nemanja Vidic was sent off on his return from injury.
After a low-key first half, Rooney's cross was handled by Sergiu Costin and the striker scored after 64 minutes.
United went down to 10 men two minutes later as Vidic was harshly shown red for a foul on Gabriel Giurgiu.
Otelul's Milan Perendija received a second yellow late on before Rooney struck after Antal fouled him.
