Clint Dempsey refuses to travel to Fulham training camp

Fulham’s Clint Dempsey appears to be forcing through a move to Liverpool. The 29-year-old has pulled out of the club’s pre-season training camp as he tries to engineer himself a move to Anfield and a greater possibility of Champions League football than there would be at Craven Cottage.Dempsey has been a Fulham stalwart over the last 5 years and last season found the net 23 times in all competitions. It is this form that has led new Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers to the belief that the American would be a useful attacking option in the playing philosophy he is trying to impose on Merseyside.Fulham are not keen to sell and are asking for closer to twice what Liverpool are expecting to pay.

According to Goal.com, Dempsey, in an attempt to force through a move, took matters into his own hands by refusing to travel to the club’s training camp in Switzerland on Monday resulting in a bust-up with coach Martin Jol.

Whether he goes to Liverpool remains to be seen, but Dempsey’s Fulham career seems to be over and there are other teams ready to pounce if the Reds refuse to meet the asking price.
