Andy Carroll Linked with Manchester United

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew may have already told Tottenham Andy Carroll is not for sale but he faces an even tougher task in convincing Manchester United to drop their interest in the striker.
The Premier League leaders believe the 21-year-old can boost their cause in much the same way as Andy Cole did when he made a similar switch more than a decade ago.
With Wayne Rooney still struggling for form and Michael Owen’s injury problems showing no signs of easing, manager Sir Alex Ferguson is believed to be keen on bolstering his squad in January.
After the saga involving his new contract earlier in the year, Rooney apparently received assurances from the club’s board that the American owners of the club, the Glazer family, would provide Ferguson with significant funds in the transfer window.
The England striker will no doubt now be hoping Sir Alex is handed enough money to convince Carroll to leave St James' Park and make the switch to Old Trafford.
United are currently two points clear at the top of the league, with a game in hand.
