Griffiths, 20, joined Mick Mccarthy's side on trial last week so the manager could properly assess the striker who has averaged a goal a game for Dundee since joining in 2009.
And it is understood McCarthy is now ready to finalise a deal for Griffiths after some impressive displays in training.
Wolves, who are level on points with bottom-place West Ham, are one of the lowest-scoring teams in the table and their top scorers Steven Fletcher and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake have only got four Premier League goals each.
But McCarthy is now ready to pin his hopes on Griffiths, who is available for as little as £200,000 because Dundee are still in administration.
