Newcastle United set to sign veteran striker Shefki Kuqi

Newcastle United are set to land striker Shefki Kuqi in a shock move, according to reports.
According to Sky Sports News, the 34-year-old is ready to make his move to St James' Park to give manager Alan Pardew more options up front as he lost Andrew Carroll to Liverpool for £35 million and Shola Ameobi who is currently injured. This has left the Toon with very few striking options with only Peter Lovenkrands, Nile Ranger and Leon Best available. All three lack Premier League experience and the Toon boss believes that Finnish striker Kuqi who has played for Blackburn Rovers has this entity which his side lack.
Newcastle would be able to get the player almost immediately as the striker is a free agent having been released by Swansea City.
