Villa plotting Barc Raid

Aston Villa are reportedly lining up a summer raid for Barcelona's out-of-favour central defender
Gabriel Milito.

It is claimed that Villa chief Gerard Houllier has been keeping tabs on the 30-year-old Argentinian international stopper's progress at the Nou Camp this term, where he has fallen down the pecking order.
And, with Gerard Pique and Carles Puyol the Catalan giants' preferred central defensive partnership, it appears that Milito's chances of playing regularly in the future are slim.
Therefore, Houllier is thought to be lining up a possible swoop for Milito at the end of the season as he attempts to reinforce his defensive options at Villa Park.
However, one obstacle to a deal is that the French tactician is looking to take Milito on a free transfer, but Barca will almost certainly demand a fee given that his contract is not due to expire until summer 2012.
