Manchester City in link to Senegal starlet

Manchester City are preparing a move for Anderlecht's Senegalese international holding midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate.City scouts watched the 22-year-old starlet in action against Club Brugge in a crunch Jupiler Pro League clash last weekend before Patrick Vieira met him in Coventry on Monday night.Kouyate is part of Senegal's Under-23 Olympic squad and is expected to be part of their plans for the summer tournament in which they will face Stuart Pearce's Team GB in the group stage.Anderlecht refused Senegal permission to play Kouyate in the playoff against Oman at the Ricoh Arena on Monday, but he did travel to England to support his team-mates.Vieira watched Senegal's 2-0 win and cheered the goals for the country of his birth, but he also has a professional interest in eight of the players in the Young Lions squad after they came through his Diambars academy.
Kouyate, 6ft 4in and similar to Vieira in playing style, did not come through that system but holds a French passport and is of increasing interest to City.
