Chelsea target new keeper

Chelsea are said to be back in the hunt for CSKA Moscow goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev as doubts surround the future of Petr Cech. The Blues have long been linked with a move for the Russian international and almost made a move 18 months ago when Cech was struggling through injury. The deal never materialised but now reports claim they could resurrect a move for the 25-year-old in the summer if they allow Cech to leave Stamford Bridge. Chelsea did sign teenage Belgian Thibaut Courtois in the summer but he is seen as one for the future and the Blues want someone with more experience. Akinfeev fits the bill perfectly but they are sure to face strong competition for his services with Manchester United also said to be keeping an eye on him following an indifferent first season at Old Trafford. As for Courtois, the youngster is targeting a loan move in England next season after spending time with Atletico Madrid in this campaign. "I think that before going to Chelsea, I have to play one or two years in another English team to discover the football played there," he told the Daily Mail. "After that, we'll see if I am ready. It's hard to say now."
